Deb's Way

Guernsey Chest and Heart’s very own Deb Bray will be embarking on a trip of a lifetime this month as she steps out on the Camino Way. Deb, a Nurse for the Charity by day, will join the many pilgrims who make their way across the various routes to Santiago de Compostela.

Imagine stepping onto ancient paths where every footstep echoes with centuries of history. The Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St. James, is more than a walking route it’s a profound journey of discovery, spirit, and connection.

For over 1,000 years, pilgrims have travelled these trails to the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, northwest Spain, believed to be the resting place of St. James the Apostle. The city itself takes its name from him Santiago meaning St. James and Compostela meaning field of stars.

Deb will start her journey from St. Jean Pied de Port and cover some 500 miles before reaching Santiago de Compostela.

We caught up with Deb before she went to ask her why she was embarking upon this journey and what it means to her.

You can follow Deb’s progress here on this page where we will have a GPS tracker and video messages.

Walking and keeping active is very important to Deb, and is a key part of her messages to the people she sees at Guernsey Chest and Heart in helping them stay healthy……….MOTION IS LOTION !
